Packaging
Design and develop a series of cohesive packages for children's food products for ‘Happy Sprout’. Creating an innovative and creative package that will appeal to children.
The Research
I figured whilst doing some brainstorming, I should consider the food that I will base my package around. That way I could ensure that the package will suit and hold the product perfectly. I had decided to do sushi rolls. Sushi is loved universally and can be eaten on the go and is fairly healthy. It would also be a fun way of changing up the food in their lunchbox. Also having the opportunity to expand your child’s taste buds.
Researching for innovative packages that could also have another use for besides containing the product inside. As well as be interactive with the child. Also needing to consider how the child can eat the sushi and how the package can be opened.
The Solution
The product that I have based my package on is sushi and challenging the boundaries of what it could be possibly be showcased in. Whilst considering the display the package will have on the shelves of the store, I influenced the shape to be satisfyingly stacked like a honey comb. The pentagram prism is durable enough to withstand the contents safely inside. For the child eating the sushi, I wanted to make it easily accessible with adding another feature to the package. Implementing a way for the child to easily pull the sushi out and eat upon a self made plate. In addition, adding a die cut on the sides to help visually see the sushi inside. The typography was influenced through sushi and chopsticks, kept it playful and simple enough to read.
I decided to use bears dressed as ninjas as avatars for the child to engage with. They too, can be like their favourite avatar and be able to cut off the attached mask. Considering that the child will put a part of the package around their eyes. The pull out plate acts like a barrier to seperate the sushi to the outside package.
